- The Features -
As OLD MILL FARMHOUSE was once the home of the village corn miller, a feature water wheel was a ‘must’. The water for the mill was carried along a canal which travelled through the main field, then under the road to the mill. The canal has now gone and, sadly, so has the mill but we have brought back a little atmosphere of bygone days with a working water wheel situated on the bank, overlooking the courtyard.
Since we live on the famous Welsh gold belt, we have acquired one of the old Hudson tipper wagons that hauled the gold bearing ore from the nearby Gwynfynydd gold mine. A kilo of this rare, high quality gold was presented to the Queen on her 60th birthday.
Many of
our visitors are railway enthusiasts. We have a model garden railway
("Cedar Creek Railroad" -
G scale) based on the Denver
and Rio Grande, with a magnificent American trestle
3' high and 42' long. The trains are now running and we are working
on the scenery and landscaping. Enthusiasts with a loco of their own
are very welcome to bring them. Log onto youtube.com and search
for watch?v=2FoySCjv_jg
where you can enjoy a bird's eye view of Cedar Creek Railroad!
